eTwinning offers a free online platform for teachers in one of the countries involved, to communicate, collaborate, develop projects, and share ideas and resources, with teachers from other educational institutions around Europe and some neighbouring countries, who are also involved in eTwinning. This exciting learning community also offers free online Continuous Professional Development. Once registered and involved in a project, teachers have their own private TwinSpace workspace where they work collaboratively with their partners. There are also ‘eTwinning groups’, which are virtual places where eTwinners meet to discuss and share ideas and resources. I am the moderator of the eTwinning Featured Group, ‘On s’amuse en classe FLE’.
The group has an annual theme, which is split into monthly themes. So for the academic year 2020 – 2021, the theme is ‘les régions de la France’ and so each month the focus is on a different French region. There are 13 regions, including Corsica. All regions are covered then, one per month, except Corsica, but then we undertook a large project last year on French-speaking islands of the world!
September was Brittany, October is Normandy and then November will be Hauts-de-France. I have created all kinds of worksheets and some activity templates so that teachers can create resources for themselves, like Cherbourg Top Trumps, for instance. I have shared these with the group. I have asked the group if there are any additional activities that they would like. The group have responded saying that they would find videos with comprehension questions, local photographs and up-to-date news items useful. If you are able to create any of these to share with the group, then please get in touch via Twitter: @PaulineStirlin3.
Likewise, if you are a teacher of French as a second language and would like to join eTwinning and this group, then please DM me!
