This walk begins from the Forestry Commission parking area at Craigieburn Forest, 4km east of Moffat on the A708 road towards Selkirk. The walk begins up the track into the forest plantations.
When you reach a track junction turn left. When the track ends at a grassy turning area keep going, then turn right and up onto a waymarked path. This can be muddy and quite rough in places, and climbs up to reach a corner in a drystone wall. From here it runs along the upperside of the wall, giving beautiful views across to Moffat. Eventually the path leaves the wall and climbs to the right into the trees again.
Keep following the path which becomes a track again, and stop to enjoy the open views to the west. From here turn right and head downhill. The track soon gives excellent views across the valley, and is fringed by more native trees.
Keep heading downhill, past the junction where you took the path off to the left initially, and back to the car park. This route is nearly 5km. There are other paths whic you can take within the forest.
