I am pleased to have joined, as an ambassador, what is becoming an extraordinary community of educational settings from around the world. There are currently over thirty schools in this alliance. The Global School Alliance is working through the coronavirus crisis to onboard more global schools: whatever your growth and development goals, the GSA can help open the door to new innovative practices and exciting global opportunities that will help your students thrive.
Now, more than ever before (Brexit...), is the time for schools in the UK to form partnerships and work collaboratively with schools around the world. Personally, I have always seen the importance of exchange visits and British Council programmes, such as Erasmus Plus (and in the past, Comenius) and Connecting Classrooms and have spent many years spreading the word as a British Council Ambassador.
In present times, with the current pandemic making teacher and pupil visits abroad impossible, virtual exchanges and online collaboration is key. The British Council eTwinning programme continues to go from strength to strength, offering schools the chance to form virtual links and offering teachers the opportunity for online CPD. I am also an eTwinning ambassador, having been involved in eTwinning since its launch fifteen years ago, and I have never found eTwinning hard to promote to schools!
So I was pleased to learn about the Global School Alliance and to get involved in this initiative. The more platforms for schools to link the better!
