A stroll in Appley Park

Updated: Aug 14, 2019

You can leave your car anywhere along the Esplanade at Seaview and walk to Appley Park with the sea on your right or park behind the Canoe Lake in Ryde and walk up to the park with Appley Beach and the sea on your left! There is also a car park at Appley Park. The walk from Seaview, past Puckpool Park, in to Ryde is flat and even, and suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs. There are stunning views across the Solent to the mainland. On a clear day, you can see Portsdown Hill.

If you are using an OS map to find the gothic Appley Tower, the grid ref is: SZ 608 922. Appley Park is a great place for a family day out. The adventure playground is close to the sandy beach and offers a nice range of play things like the pirate ship, slides (soft landing on the sand!), play huts and the usual seesaws, swings, etc.

The park has a maze of paths for a woodland walk. If you fancy a family stroll, with a play area for the kids, and toilets and cafés close by, then this is your place!

Appley is also easy to get to by bus from other parts of the island, as Ryde Bus Station is within walking distance, as is Ryde Pier and the hover terminal, if you are coming from the mainland via Wightlink FastCat or the hover.
